Jetpack Jaxx comic
This is a project I started in university. I decided to make a comic set in a cyberpunk dystopian world about a young boy called Jaxx who after being gifted a jetpack, ends up on the run meeting a cyborg girl along the way and getting captured by the police.
Character sheets
This is a turnaround sheet and expression sheet for my main character Jaxx, which I made so I wouldn't go off design when drawing him for my comic. I wanted to show that he was a high energy and reckless character which I felt I was able to show through his colour palette, messy hair and details such as the bandages he had on his face.
This is another character that plays a significant role in the story alongside Jaxx. As I did this project for University I didn't have time to make a full turnaround sheet unlike Jaxx, but I made sure to capture their emotions. This is a cyborg girl that ends up getting into trouble alongside Jaxx in the story.
These are some sketches I did for my third major character, a rogue police who ends up helping Jaxx along his journey to escape the city. In designing this character I had the idea that the rest of my police characters should be wearing helmets as it not only made them appear more intimidating but also made it easier for me as an artist as I did not have to design various unique faces for a large cast of characters. I wanted this character to be a bit of a grump compared to my kid characters and I decided to make him Latinx for diversity.
This is the character sheets I worked with for my main characters dad. I decided I wanted him to be a larger more round character as I felt like this made him come across as more friendly yet tough. His character is very smart, yet kind of cowardly as he runs away when confronted by the police.
